Internalization: process to learn by observing others: parents, teachers, other students. Zone of proximal development (zpd): needed help but after practice and experience you were able to do it alone. Scaffolding: teachers/parents provide scaffolds for students to help them accomplish tasks at the upper end of their zpd encouraging cognitive development. It is the main means by which adults transmit info to children. Language itself becomes a very powerful tool of intellectual adaptation. Private speech: speech spoken to oneself for communication, self-guidance and self-regulation of behavior. Later language ability becomes internalized as thought and inner speech. thought is the result of language. Categorized by impaired theory of mind, as well as other social and communication developmental deficiencies. Causes unknown - not due to vaccines. Attachment theorist: harry harlow (harlow"s monkeys) and mary ainsworth (attachment with anxiety/ reunion) Bonding/ attachment: creation of close emotional relationship between mother (or parents) and baby shortly after birth.
