You tell a white lie and give her confidence. Telling the truth is very important and usually the right thing to do: but honestly can have risky consequences, experiment: keep track of truthfulness in conversation, only 38% of daily convo was true. All paths to enlightenment (christianity, judaism, buddhism) point to tell the truth. Usually one lie does not suffice lies build upon another tangled web. When in doubt tell the truth, confound your enemies and astound your friends . Honesty is foundation where relationships are built: no honesty, then no trust, trust is huge for a relationship. Experiment: college students admitted lying to their mothers in 1 out of every 2 conversations. Study: 85% of secretaries have lied on the phone.
