Impersonal communication: using symbols to represent ideas that ignores personal qualities of the people who you are communicating with. Forgetting the personal part that is in interpersonal communication. Point of interpersonal communication: to create a bond. Dyad: two people, the common context for interpersonal communication. Key factor in interpersonal comm: not the number of people present, but personal interaction- that will create a bond. Transactional model of communication: a conception of the components present in an interpersonal interaction and how people participate together in the act of communicating. The model has two participants, who have personal qualities during the interaction and thoughts about their partners. There is a context between them, which is what he setting looks like and the environment around them. Context: the physical setting during the interaction, the time of day, environment. Channel: medium which messages are exchanged during interaction. Ex: face to face, with a cell phone, with email.
