A map is. : a diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features cities, roads, etc, agreed upon set of errors. Maps are a means of providing information of the spatial relationship of something: could be: Isohyet maps provide information on the amount of precipitation in a region in a specific time period. Topographic maps provide information about the elevation of the land. On a topo map each line connects points of equal elevation above a reference point or datum. Map making = cartography (a branch of geography) An ocean: a projection a choice of how to represent a curved surface in 2-d, a means of orientation which way is up. North, south, east, west: scale how big is the box. Nad83: the gsr 80 ellipsoid was developed for best approx. the earth as whole, global ellipsoid.
