Review: some consequences of the spread of printing: Breaking the knowledge monopoly of the church. Emergence of the professional authors and of newness and anonymity: will return to this in the 19th century inventions. Emergence of the modern nation state (contract between government and people: created a new type of freedom, the ability to have a position on politics. Because of electronic media, the universe of typography has ended its life. People in this time did not want electronic media to join the artistic and legitimate type of media books and newspapers were a part of. Played an important role to move media production from outside of typography and to make electronic media a legitimate medium. Art pieces began showing depth and could be viewed as a three dimensional shape. Previously people of distinction were not put on the same plane as the lesser depicted social classes but with this new perspective in the renaissance period, everyone was depicted equally.
