It is not routine for there to be a single instance of violence in a relationship. Types of violence: verbal abuse contempt; psychological abuse, neglect stonewalling; persistent avoidance. Silent treatment, creating anxiety and discomfort, causing someone to feel like they are not worth their partner"s time, care, or love. The intent is to do harm: physical abuse/violence mild to moderate physical abuse; threats; low to moderate frequency. This includes things like the occasional push, restraining someone, throwing things, and issuing threats: battering significant attempt to injure; moderate to high frequency. This is when someone is intentional in wanting to do harm.
