The role of a species in a community from elton. Grinnell says it is range of environments in which a species occurs which makes it a habitat or distribuional concept. Habitat is combinaion of variables such as vegetaion or soil. He thinks that it is how an organism operates in the kinds of habitats that it occurs in. Then he has like a graph to show those two variables in a heat map. The size of the bugs that it eats and where in the canopy it eats that prey. Nearly all of its prey are in a certain spot but there is some soter areas but there are areas where it doesn"t eat anything like really high up in the canopy or 10mm prey.
