Government used it for interrogation and mind control in the 50s-70s: mk-ultra. Timothy leary: used lsd in counterculture (hippies) Lsd made illegal in 1966 (schedule i drug) Lethal dose is 200 micrograms per kg: only one reported overdose on lsd. Detectable in urine for up to 1-4 days. 5-ht2a receptor (pre-synaptic) agonist: metabotropic, regulates release of serotonin, linked to excitatory g-proteins increase glutamate in cortex, associated with hallucinations; high potency and high affinity (how long drug is stuck to receptor)
