Document Summary
That man tries to kiss the woman in front of fred: results showed the south thought violence was justified and that. Fred (cid:449)ould(cid:374)"t (cid:271)e (cid:373)u(cid:272)h of a (cid:373)a(cid:374) if he did(cid:374)"t respond violently: resear(cid:272)hers (cid:374)e(cid:454)t asked ho(cid:449) parti(cid:272)ipa(cid:374)ts (cid:449)ould feel a(cid:271)out their frie(cid:374)d"s if they insulted them or if they got in a fist fight. They asked if participants would still be angry one month later: both southerners and northerners said they would get over the fist fight. There are two other observers sitting in the hallway who answered how angry or amused the participant was. The participant was then given a story about their fianc being chatted up by another guy. They were told to fill in the rest of the story. Researchers looked for violence in the open ended question: results: northerners were more amused and southerners (90%) were more angry(insulted); the southerners that were insulted filled the rest of the fianc story with violence.
