Life record data (l-data): obtained from a person"s life history or life record like school grades, criminal record, etc. Observer data: o-data: provided by knowledgeable observers like parents, friends, teachers by answering questionnaire about that person. Can get multiple perspectives on that person in different situations. Test data (t-data):results from tests performed by researcher in lab, new tech makes this much more accessible. Usually most objective record of performance on various tasks and tests. Self report data (s-data): questionnares usually encompssing a range of 2-16 traits. But people can be unaware of their own traits or biased or lie. Ex: ten item personality inventory (tipi)-observer-report;child behavior checklist (cbcl). O=information obtained from knowledgeable observers (friend, parent, teacher) Weaknesses: subject to observer bias, lack insight into thoughts, feelings.
