1940 was the use of first heart catheter in the us blood vessels important for circulating the blood all over the body. If you do not have blood vessels it won"t do any good. You have to push the blood all over the body and deliver nutrients and collect waste. The left side pumps 60,000 miles of blood vessels. Hemodynamics the forces involved in circulating the blood throughout the body miles of blood vessels. From the aorta the blood goes to the arteries to the arterioles to the capillaries. Exchange of material between the blood and the cells happens only in the capillaries. Found in skeletal muscle, skin, brain, and lungs. The cells that line the vessel are the endothelial cells.
