Our differences no longer separate us; they now bring us together and bind us as one. Contact zone. the world we live in today is made up of several different contact zones. Louise pratt discusses the importance of literacy and how it has formed the basis of our means of communication. Without literacy, the world would be a completely different place. Imagine living in a world where we would all be conformed to live in a society in which we would be forced to talk to those who are the same us. We would be surrounded by like- minded people. There would be no learning about new cultures or people. We would be unaware of what sets us apart from others and helps us standout.
