Document Summary

Socrates was a die hard fan of athens. Socrates travels to a religious festival outside of athens. He realizes that there are other religious practices that are viable. He loves athens, but doesn"t understand why they believe what they believe. Socrates goes around and asks everyone why they practice this. He feels alienated from these practices because they just may be forces of nature. He feels that athens has built an unsatisfied culture, and that they are pretty much in shambles. The apology is a very ironic title, he isn"t apologizing at all. Socrates tries to say that the people are corruptive and degenerative force. Plato wants to show what philosophy is and where it will be in the first sentence. Plato wants to give an account of what philosophy is. By saying socrates is surrounded by prejudice, just like philosophy. It has to collaborate with what its antagonist is.
