Was trying to tell people that when we get lazy, we get caught in falsehoods, start thinking people are wise just because they said they are wise. His job was to uncover this and encourage people to engage in society and make athens a better place. Plato thought socrates was brilliant plato was one of his students. The resulting death of socrates made plato: Despair the polis life and political speech. Doubt the validity of certain socratic teachings.
