Phoebe judson: oregon, traveled w/ families or in large groups trains wagon trains, pilots - former fur trappers who new layout of land. Many trail-side graves: drownings, ppl getting run over, ax & gun wounds, wagons normally went 15 mi/day, ruff stuff. Bad weather: commercial trading w/ indians in oregon terr 1780s by sp, gb, amer, russia, amer & gb joint occupation of oregon terr. Convention of 1818: gb dominated the area thru fur trade.
