Document Summary
Synergistic muscles are on the same side of the joint. Antagonistic is on the other side of the joint. Ulnar deviation: more towards pinky, radial deviation: more towards thumb. Medial/internal rotation & lateral/external rotation = shoulder. Attaches to 1st digit (thumb) = pollicus in name. Attaches to 2nd digit (index) = indicis in name. Attaches to 5th digit (pinky) = digiti minimi in name. Attaches to all digits (2-5) = digitorum in name. Attaches to bicipital groove (laterally) and to inferior 3 or 4 ribs and thoracocolumbar fascia (medially) Functions: adduction, extension, internal rotation of arm at shoulder: teres major. Attaches to posterior surface of inferior angle of scapula (medial) and medial ridge of interturbicular groove (lateral: rotator cuff muscles make sure don"t dislocate shoulder. Function: internal rotation of arm at shoulder: deltoid. U shaped attachment (upside down tear drop shape) All comes down to one point on humerus = deltoid tuberosity of humerus.
