Document Summary
Chapter 6 compeiive rivalry and compeiive dynamics. Compeitors are irms operaing in the same market, ofering similar products, and targeing similar customers. Compeiive behavior consists of the set of compeiive acions and responses a given irm takes to build or defend its compeiive advantages and improve its market posiion. Compeiive rivalry: compeitors within a given market are interdependent, acions taken by one irm elicit responses from compeitors, that in turn result in responses from the irm that took the iniial acion. How well it anicipates compeitors responses to the acions. How well it responds to its compeitors acions: compeitor analysis is a key to strategic success. Compeiive analysis: step one: map current or potenial compeitors (who are they?) As part of step one, look at two dimensions: Assess resources of compeitors: step one: map current or potenial compeitors, step two: assess the key drivers of compeiive behavior. Market commonality: is concerned with the number of markets with:
