Aristotle: human is internal animal, fullest possible realization of reason in our lives as animals. Epictetus: human, little piece of god, be as good- like as possible. Letter to menoeceus and principal doctrines : atomism- the atom is derived from early greek thought, democritus had the idea that there has to be something we can call the atom. Happy life: created from pleasure and simplicity, this is moral virtue, these virtues teach what is simple and natural. Aristotle- human is rational animal fullest possible realization of reason in our lives as animals. Epictetus (stoicism)- human is a small piece of god be as god-like as possible. Epicurious- human=clump of atoms (atomism) pleasure and the absence of pain (hedonism) We don"t need to worry about it if we aren"t there. Freedom from pain in the body and trouble in the mind. Not needed for survival, however they are impulses of a human being.
