Document Summary
Optic chiasm: the split (right optic tract, right lgn) Something interesting happens when it comes to information of eye to brain. Optic nerve coming from left eyeball half of it ends up in the same side of brain, and the other half goes to the opposite side of the brain. Temporal half of retina ipsilateral visual cortex. Half that is closer to the nose (nasal half) crosses over to the opposite side project to be contralateral visual cortex. Everything from your left visual field (both eyes) ends up in the right visual cortex (vise- versa) Lgn here you find neurons that responds very similarly to ganglion cells (the plus in the center, minus in the outside, receptors, etc) (don"t need to know for exam) Directly receive inputs from the lgn as opposed to indirect inputs. At the top, it"s the visual field divide into four quadrants (different distances from the fovea)
