Problem occurs at the level of the brain where its trying to put together the face as a whole. Damage to specific portion of it ---> fusiform face area (ffa: much smaller sub region within the it cortex, specialized for faces within the it cortex. Image is nothing but an array of light intensities. Numbers that depict how bright or how dark that particular spot in the image is. It is meaningful to talk about moving up and down in the image, and left and right in the image. In an image, it doesn"t make sense to talk about which pixels are closer or farther from you. Move in these two directions but height and depth does not make sense in the image. That third dimension does not exist in the inputs, the brain has to construct the third dimension, the brain has to fill in that information, does not exist at the level of the retina.
