Limbic cortex is deeper inside, bordering cerebral cortex. ~the cortex associated with limbic system is collectively called limbic lobe . Cingulate gyrus is a big smooth gyrus, dorsal. There"s other smaller cortical regions too but who cares. ~hippocampus (means sea horse, looks like a sea horse from the side) is deep inside temporal lobe. ~fornix bundle of axons connecting hippocampus to other parts of the brain. ~parts of the limbic system are involved in learning and memory. ~amygdala involved in emotions feeling, emotional memories, recognizing emotion in others. ~nucleus = group of neurons of a similar shape.
