Violence and the psychologically damaged black male (cont. ) Class inequality theorists claim that wc/lc of all races get angry & frustrated in face of all the wealth that surrounds them: wc/lc of all races commit more crime to cope with their anger and frustration. Why does racial inequality lead to more anger & frustration: class inequalities are seen as more legitimate in an egalitarian society like the us. Many wc/lc may feel that the wealthy deserve their wealth because they have earned it (achieved it: by contrast, racial inequalities are seen as illegitimate because they are based on an ascribed vs an achieved status. Ie jobs, education, housing, etc. are doled out based on an ascribed inferior racial status vs individual achievement for example, a woman surgeon makes more money than a male surgeon. Also, if given the opportunity, a patient will pick the male over the female.
