Victim briefings: often victim families have frustrations. Is enough being done to solve the crime. Are there delays in obtaining information from officials. Has there been a history of negative contacts. Was enough done to prevent this: experience gained from aviation disasters and terrorism taught that families need. Three phases: acute/emergency, transitional, long term. Interact directly with family members: may function as caseworkers assigned to specific families or survivors, may provide. Assist with practical needs, assess and match needs and resources and serve as a conduct for information. Family briefing: status of rescue recovery operations, status of identification process, status of personal effects management, assistance resources update. Crisis counseling, child care, legal services: planned events. Death notification: recommended to be done in teams.
