The purpose of an activity diagram is to show the procedural flow of control between classes of two or more. Activity diagrams are used to model a business" computerized behavior. Businesses can use activity diagrams as models how they are currently doing business and how they would like to run their business as well. An activity can help businesses solve problems as well. The way it does this is because when an analyst is designing the model, they have to brainstorm scenarios and examine if problems will arise based on their business decisions. In an activity diagram, an oval known as a start node following an arrow is directed towards an activity which is rectangular shaped. Generally, actions and nodes are described with verbs control transfer indicators are represented with one way arrows, and object flows have a dotted line. Swimming lanes are also a feature of the activity diagram.
