Document Summary
Vital for creativity, but unhappy if we spend too much time there( shower) Focused (trying really hard to solve the problem) What if this is a gift? if something bad happens make something up so that you feel a bit better. Stressor: an event or condition which we view as threatening, challenging, uncomfortable, or overwhelming. Poverty, an explosion, a psychology test, feeling cold, being on a plane, and loud noises. Appraisal: deciding whether to use something as a stressor. Stress reaction: any emotional and physical responses to the stressor such as rapid heartbeat, elevated cortisol levels, and crying. Cortisol sends energy to our arms and legs. Other places will get less energy, especially organs. When stress happen day after day and cortisol continue to be released its bad for us. Mental and physical coping systems become overwhelmed and defeated, rather than strengthen. Immune functioning and other health factors decline because of damage.
