Hears appeals: appeals = claim judge at trial made a mistake about the law, not a second trial, Asks judge to a(cid:272)k(cid:374)o(cid:449)ledge trial judge"s error: court of last resort. Only hears cases concerning federal law or constitutional rights. 96 federal district courts: at least 1 in every state, and more than one in several states, ex) new york has several district courts, one of which is the famous southern district court. 11 circuits based upon geography: when the district courts have cases appealed, the cases move up to the circuit court denoted by the geographical location. Federal circuit = sees only very specific cases (ex. Circuit sees cases where the u. s. government is involved: very influential court, determines many issues regarding how government can and cannot do in business, (cid:862)trai(cid:374)i(cid:374)g (cid:272)a(cid:373)p(cid:863) for upre(cid:373)e court justi(cid:272)es.
