Document Summary

Need to resolve the ambiguities in our visual world. Our system is slightly different than others. Retina is at the very back and there are five layers of cells. Retina receptors bipolar cells retina ganglion cells cns (?) Nothing can occur until the photoreceptors convert light, therefore this is backwards design: solving the visual acuity problem. (i) incoming light is distorted before reaching the photoreceptors. Distorted through 4 layers of cells before reaching the receptors. Photoreceptors are further away from the light. Seeing is more than what your eyes can capture! Seeing is also less than what your eyes can capture! As you move back and forth, you find it is gone you see less because of the blind spot and because of your concentration (you don"t always look at everything) (i) fovea - allows high acuity vision. Your grandmother can"t thread a needle, but you can because you put your gaze directly at the thread (right at your fovea)
