Women with less freedom usually tend to have more children because that is the main way to gain status in a society; in many societies, it is favorable to have multiple children. Economic status, societal norms/expectations, cultural norms (how many children are you supposed to have) Natal family: family into which born and raised. Nuclear family: married couple and their children. Extended families: may live together or acknowledge ties with one another. In the us, it depends on your definition of extended family. Clan: group of relatives all descended from a single ancestor: all descended from a single ancestor but much more vague. Within a family you have a certain amount of resources. A house: shows your status and how much wealth you have within a society.
