IST 195 Lecture Notes - Lecture 20: Systems Development Life Cycle, Gantt Chart, Data Flow Diagram
Document Summary
Set of activities used to build an information system. System: set of components that interact to achieve a common goal. Information system: hardware, the software, and the information/data/people that work together to build quality information. This is the information the system produces. System development: activities are grouped into phases, and is called the system development life cycle (sdlc) Process of planning, scheduling, and then controlling the activities during system development. This is important because on a weekly basis your team has to have something done or fixed and you want to know how long it will take. Your answer is always undercut; however, long you think it is going to take, double it. Need: project scope, required activities, estimates for each activity, costs, order of activities, and activities that can take place at the same time. Popular tool used to plan and schedule time relationships among project activities.
