Document Summary

Multi cellular organisms divide for development and growth and repair. Cel division results and genetically identical daughter cells. Before they divide, ensuring that each daughter so has the same dna. Eukaryotic chromosomes: consists of chromatin- complex dna and protein that condenses during cell division. In animals: somatic cells have two sets of chromosomes. Division with eukaryotic cells: mitosis- divison of the nucleus. Meiosis: production sex cells after reduction in chromosome numbers. Cell cycle: 1)mitotic phase: interphase-> g1 phase->s phase-> g2 phase. Mitotic spindle- an apparatus of microtubules that controls. Some spindle microtubules attached to the kinetochores of chromosomes and move the chromosomes to metaphase plate. Anaphase- sister chromatids separate and move along the kinetochore to microtubules towards opposite ends of the cell.
