Ex: eliciting a response through verbal symbols. But this leaves out non verbal symbols as communication. Ex: it"s not what you said, it"s how you said it . Ex: trying to communicate something like sarcasm over email/text and the receiver gets confused. Video: message was effective, but not necessarily appropriate. Even if you give a message you want to give but you don"t do it in an appropriate way, it can hurt the dynamic of the group/family. A lens by which to view the world. A concept is sometimes confused with theories, but a concept is an agreed upon aspect of reality - usually abstract. Theories provide a way to understand one or more concepts. We use the word theory for a lot of things that aren"t really theories. Commonsense theory - developed by your own personal experience. Working theory - generalizations about best techniques to do something (things that you learn by practice)
