Offender profiling is the gathering of information about a crime and the victim to draw a profile of the offender. Searching for motive, techniques, and behaviors of serial offenders to link series of crimes. railway rapists was the first use of profiling. Evolutionary psychology is how far we"ve come as a species from a psychological point of view. Biopsychology is how what physically happens to you changes the way you react and act. Cognitive/behavioral is looking at mental thought &processes - creativity, memory, speech, etc. Socio-cutural is how society and cultural constructs change how people act in certain places. acting in church, classroom, a bar, etc. Noticed that criminals who did similiar crimes had similiar behavior. Covers large variety of crimes attempts to describe the actions of offenders and develop and understanding of crime. 3 - diagnostic evaluation psychological testing and assessment inference of typical and atypical behavior.
