Southern slope of the southern rocky mountains; primarily in colorado: descends from colorado to the depression. Low pass from gulf of mexico to pacific along the mexico border. Sonoran desert (arizona desert: different from every other desert because low, hottest in the us, sonoran cactus, lowest growing season. Colorado plateau: steep cliffs, stretches away like a level plain (high plain like east of the rockies, extends from rio grande to the colorado, overlooks sonoran desert, cooler and drier. Mongolian rim: separates little colorado and gim, good amount of moisture. The colorado river is to the left of the continental divide line and the rio. Grand canyon: system of canyons but the biggest, colorado river breaking out at the mongolian rim. Gila river is fed by streams that flow into the mongolian rim and into the desert into colorado. Colorado river drains to the north painted desert. San juan river: gives a rise to san mountains.
