History starts with a big question implied or explicit. Absence of african americans in some regions of texas. Borders and thinking in groups of three or more. Texas is a place of multiple borders between 3 or more ethic groups. Texas was similar to mississippi in 1900 but totally different by 1960. Culture was dynamic where culture changed and altered over time. Poll tax and the white primary very southern. Mississippi got a poll tax in 1890 and then texas in 1902 and then soon later it had an all white primary. Texas never got a literacy test like mississippi to subdue black voters: texas was administered differently to blacks and whites. Even if you paid the poll tax you could still not vote because of literacy tests. Texas had some voting suppression tools but not all (literacy tests) Texas did not use literacy tests because some white farmers would not have been able to complete it.
