○First synthesized in 1887 by Romanian chemist Lazar Edeleanu in Berlin,
Germany
○Was one of a series of compounds related to plant derivative ephedrine
○Ephedrine commonly used as (Ephedrine is not amphetamine)

■Treat hypotension associated with anesthesia
○Athletes use ephedrine to reduce body fat and is banned by USADA
