Lecture - making health care decisions for others (susan ward) Health care proxy = document that will assign someone as individual who will make decisions related to health care for an individual. Advanced directive health care proxy is part of it. Health care agent = individual who has been named in that proxy or advanced. A legal surrogate = someone who will make decisions regarding end of life care, directive, so it"s the actual person who will be make decisions but someone who has not been named in a legal document. If legal document was not prepared in advance, there are going to be people who make decisions aka surrogates. A guardian = in healthcare, someone appointed by court to make decisions about health care at end of life. Discussing health care with the medical team. Asking for consultations with other medical personnel. Giving permission for medical tests or refusing medical tests.
