Factual issues = a question of fact which is a) b) In class we assume, in real world go and find the facts. Different assumptions can result in different moral conclusions. A conceptual issue is a question about the meaning of a term that is crucial in the moral analysis. We resolve conceptual issues by either: a) b) Finding the definition in appropriate policies or laws. Coming up with one of our own by looking at typical or paradigm examples. Conceptual issues are crucial issues to settle in any type of moral discussion. An application issue is a question about whether a concept applies in a given situation. In order to resolve an application issue, we have to know two things: Knowledge of relevant facts or important factual issues + reasonable assumptions. Sometimes a moral issue is decided when we have determined the application question. There might be extenuating circumstances that make it acceptable to do the wrong thing.
