Partisanship heuristic is a shortcut in understanding how people vote. Maverick (does not always stick with party) People are good at predicating where a candidate sits on the left and right spectrum based on their party id. Easy determination of their stance on issues. Parties are the most homogenous today than they have ever been. People in a single party vote extremely similar. During this time there was disloyal republican or democrats. Some senators were more or less loyal to voting for a party. Measurement by the description of the media and the senator or representative and their behavior with their party. Ter(cid:373)i(cid:374)ology: (cid:862)(cid:373)averi(cid:272)k, rea(cid:272)h a(cid:272)ross the isle, against the party, et(cid:272). (cid:863) Strong connection between media perception and real voting behavior. Meaning that, if the media calls a representative disloyal, it is actually most likely that that individual did vote against their party.
