The science that seeks to understand behavior and mental processes and apply that understanding. More than just describing, applying means to change people. Predict (when will something like this happen again?) Control (how can we prevent/ support this idea) Physiological- how biological process in the brain and other organs affect, and are affected by, behavior and mental processes. Developmental- study the psychological changes of humans that takes place over a lifetime. Cognitive- study human perception, thinking, and memory (how we learn/think) Personality- studies the characteristics that make individuals similar and different from one another (introvert/extrovert- how does that impact an individual) Social- studies how people"s thoughts, feelings and behaviors are influenced by the real or imagined presence of other people (reactions in groups vs individually) Clinical & counseling- assess, treat, and study mental emotional and, behavioral disorders.
