Renaissance theatre: old globe - shakespeare theatre, no set design or costuming, relied completely on words due to lack of flashiness, many different social classes attended theatre. Aesthetic distance: the perfect distance to view a particular play, a show with a lot of spectacle would be better in a proscenium from a distance. Arena stage: circle theater, the playing space is in the center of the room, with the audience surrounding the stage on all four sides, most close stage to the audience. The black box: can be adapted to almost any configuration, seats, lights, platforms, levels are all flexible and movable.
