Infographics
• The internet forever changed the way humans communicate. It has brought the world
together in ways previous generations never imagined.
• Besides the explosion of different ways information is curated, shared and consumed
online, one of the most interesting changes is the growth in visual communication, as
opposed to purely text based communication (i.e. forums & email).
• Infographics Can Pack A Lot Of Punch
o Infographics are an increasingly important tool for anyone interested in
communicating dense information in an easy-to-understand and shareable way.
They fuse the complexity of statistical data with the visual playfulness of
illustration, design and/or comic strips
• Strategies for creating infographics

learning something quirky and new—or outrageous—along the way. However,
keep in mind there are strategies you can use to create a really successful
infographic
• Research: See what others are doing & sharing
o If an infographi has’t popped up i your Faeook feed lately, there is o
shortage of places to find great examples. With scores of websites and even a
few great books devoted to infographics there are many places to find
inspiration and figure out what kind of infographic works best for your client,
your audience and the information you want to share.

digested ad uderstad the iforatio/statistis that you’re goig to use to
create your infographic.
• What’s The Point?
o Try reatig a thesis stateet or figure out hat key essage or poit you’re
trying to drive home. Without this your infographic will lack focus and it will
make it hard for you to decide what information is really important to get across
and what can be excluded
• Identify Your Audience
o Is the infographic being created for a business (B2B), a consumer (B2C), a
particular online community or create mass awareness with a general audience?
o How does this group like to be reached and how do they traditionally share
information?
o If you do’t uderstad ho the audiee is the you aot ake sure it
reahes the right people ad you o’t eet the liet’s ouiatios
objectives.
• Your narrative/story is equally as important as your numbers
o Tell a story and/or take the viewer on a journey!
