Organic nitrates also have effects to dilate the coronary vessels and this will help open up those vessels which will increase blood flow and oxygen delivery to the heart. Then we get a decrease in peripheral resistance, reducing the afterload and. Decreasing the heart workload by decreasing the resistance that it would pump against. There are 2 sets of cells: one being the endothelial cells (lumen of the vessel) the smooth muscle cells (inside of the vessel).
