Socrates is looking for the essence/ truth of piety, through logical reasoning. To ensure that people are not forming a value on nothing - so you don"t blindly follow something. There is no absolute truth: you can find your own truth and define that as your truth (?) Why do you think people think that they are wise when they know what they don"t know? know but it is painful to know what you don"t know. It"s easier to think you know what you don"t. They were taught it and accepted it and did not question it (ignorance) Socrates - it is means to acquire knowledge. Daoist - don"t try to obtain wisdom. What"s the problem with socrates in daoist. Socrates is defining terms while daoists do not like terms in general. Yes b/c you can"t go wrong with logic and rational.
