Baudrillard"s map: a queen/king wanted map of entire empire, bring in best mapmakers bring it in, looks good. King and queen thought it could be even better w/ detail: eventually, the map was a perfect representation of the territory. Map was so big, life-size, became the dominant reality. People use media for an average of 11 hours a day. Microcosms of hyperreality: cowboys stadium, las vegas, times square, disney. Media as a map: media maps are overtaking the territories.
