Kurzweil - history"s law of accelerating returns: more advanced societies have ability to progress at faster rate than less advanced societies bc they"re more advanced. 15th century humanity no match for 19th century: works on smaller scales too. In back to the future out in 85 - the past in 55: more change happened in the most recent 30 years than in the prior 30. Advances get bigger and bigger - happening more and more quickly: by 2000, rate of progress was 5x faster than the average rate of progress during the 20th century.
