Successful decision makers = self aware, courageous, sensitive, energetic, and creative. Problem solving = part of decision making, systematic process focusing on analyzing a dif cult situation. Critical thinking or re ective thinking = mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer conclusion. Characteristics = insight, intuition (gut feeling), empathy, and willingness to take action. Critical thinking teaching model = didactic theory, problem solving, personalized learning, and group process. Integrating and applying different types of knowledge to weigh evidence, critically think about arguments, and re ect on the process used to arrive at diagnosis. Collaborative and re ective process that involves content-speci c knowledge, engagement of the patient and family in understanding the clinical problem, and incorporation of critical contextual factors.
