Defining sociology is a difficult task because sociologists do different types of sociology. Textbook chapter: the systematic study of society and social interaction . Society: a group of people whose members interact, reside in a definable area, and share a culture. B/c of this, most sociologists prefer to define as it as the scientific study of social. Most sociologists use the term for simplicity"s sake but don"t like it. Similar to parts of psych, econ, polis ci, e. t. c. Broad view: other disciplines take a limited view, but sociology analyzes all types and aspects of social relations. The other things like econ and psych are subsumed by sociology. Benefits of this view: different perspective, able to see how all types of social. Disadvantages: not able to go into the same depth as other social scientific relations are interrelated and influential. disciplines, and sociology is more eclectic and divided than other social sciences.
