Inhibits secretion of glucagon and insulin, regulates other hormones. The adrenal glands comprise the cortex and medulla. Adrenal cortex: outer layer of adrenal gland. Adrenal medulla: inner layer of adrenal gland. Maintain blood glucose levels during prolonged fasting. Act on kidneys, promoting sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion. Enhance function of sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight response)
