Environmental impact of development has been steep. Continuing divide in income and quality of life. Human and physical geographies extremely diverse and intimately linked. Globalization, urbanization, and economic growth have altered region"s landforms, soils, vegetation, and climate. Ex: vegetation, europeans showed up and cut most of trees down in some areas. Ex: consuming a big chunk of fossil fuels. Ex: tearing down landforms to build stuff. Produces 20% of earth"s greenhouse gas emissions. Arrival of europeans had major impact on flora and fauna. North americans consume large amounts of water. Several u. s. cities have outdated water supply systems. Depletion of ogallala aquifer (as it gets depleted it effects the crop growth in america: use for water supply and commercial agriculture. U. s. clean water act and canadian green plan insufficient. Mining and industrial centers create toxic wastewater.
