The clause in united states constitution"s article vi, stating that all laws made furthering the constitution and all treaties made under the authority of the united states are the supreme law of the land. Full faith and credit --- laws and contracts made in one state needs to be upheld in other states. Doma- united states versus windsor (2013)---> direct of marriage act. [same sex couples could not receive federal benefits and same sex marriage was not defined as marriage]--- challenged the full faith and credit theme. Says that states can work together on certain issues but if they want to cooperate it has to be approved by congress.
